Why is Kid Power Martial Arts for my child and what are the benefits?


Kid Power Martial Arts is a youth-oriented martial arts learning center that emphasizes on leadership skills and character development. Our age-specific programs incorporate life skills training such as focus, self discipline, self control and teamwork. Your child will learn and perform a variety of self-defense, fitness and training drills in a fun and motivating environment. In the process, your child will build a healthy self-confidence that will help them to succeed which is essential to their personal development and academic success.

What style of Martial Arts will my child be learning?


Kid Power Martial Arts specializes in Shaolin Kenpo Karate. Shaolin Kenpo is, in its most basic form, a self defense martial art emphasizing speed, power and accuracy. The self-defense techniques your child will learn beginning in their first lesson are simple, yet effective. However, Shaolin Kenpo also offers tremendous growth opportunities for students wanting to study the intricacies of the art form.

What should my child wear for the class and is there anything they need to bring?


Kid Power Martial Arts students wear traditional uniform and belt for all classes and training. The initial uniform cost is $45. Each age group has specific uniform colors and logos. Students should also bring drinking water.

Is there any equipment my child will need to purchase?


Yes. Our program incorporates Boxing/Kickboxing drills against pads and kicking shields. Boxing gloves are required for children ages 5 and up. The cost is $30. If your child already has a pair of boxing gloves, they need to be approved by a Kid Power instructor before use in class. Boxing gloves carried by many sporting goods and department stores are generally not suitable for training. The equipment used at Kid Power is specially selected for your child’s comfort and safety..

Will my child become too aggressive if he/she studies the martial arts?


No. At Kid Power Martial Arts our students learn self-control and the difference between strength and aggression. In fact, the confidence and self-control emphasized by martial arts training often help students avoid physical altercations overall..

Will this type of training help my child deal with bullies?


Yes. As a parent, nothing is more important to you than keeping your child safe. However, you can’t always be there to protect them. We not only teach stranger danger awareness and self-defense, we also provide the tools for conflict resolution and bully avoidance. Bullies tend to victimize those they perceive as weak or lacking confidence. We provide the skills and knowledge that give your child the first line of defense against bullying behavior...self-confidence


Will Kid Power Martial Arts really teach my child discipline?


Yes. Life-skills, including discipline, are the foundation of the Kid Power program. Our goal is to teach, model and reinforce life-skills such as self-control and self-discipline. We believe a good instructor does not impose discipline on a student. Instead, good instructors empower their students with the self-discipline to make good choices.

Does my child need to be in shape to participate?


No. In fact one of the primary benefits of the Kid Power program is that it will improve your child’s health and fitness level regardless of his or her current activity level. We are dedicated to helping your child on a lifetime path of health and fitness. We combine the physical activity of the martial arts with innovative drills to make training fun.

My child is not particularly athletic and doesn’t participate in sports. Can he/she be good at Martial Arts?


Definitely. Many parents/children choose the martial arts because it is a great activity for children who do not participate in team sports. Our innovative program, teaching methods and drills will ensure that all students—regardless of their natural physical skills—will have the real sense of accomplishment that comes with reaching their individual potential.

My child is in baseball, basketball, soccer, etc. Can he/she benefit from the Martial Arts as well?


Yes. Most sports require excellent focus, agility, balance and coordination. Kid Power Martial Arts teach, model and reinforce these and challenge every child to always do their best.
